George Munsey

Munsey is one of Scotland's most valuable batters, a dynamic opener capable of rapidly switching his scoring rate. He first came to wider attention in June 2018, scoring 55 in Scotland's historic maiden ODI win over England at the Grange.

His reputation has since been built on explosive T20 performances. In 2019 he smashed an unbeaten 127 off 56 balls against Netherlands in a record 200-run opening stand with Kyle Coetzer, powering Scotland to 252 - their highest T20I total. His aggressive strokeplay, of which the reverse sweep is a key element, has made him difficult to contain even as teams have developed specific plans to counter him.

In 2025, Munsey set the record for the highest ODI score by an Associate batter, producing a career-defining 191 off 150 balls, against Netherlands again. He has also delivered on the global stage, including an unbeaten 66 in a win over West Indies in the 2022 T20 World Cup and a match-winning 84 against Italy in the 2026 edition.

Born in Oxford, Munsey moved to Scotland on a golf scholarship to the Loretto School outside of Edinburgh, later choosing cricket for its team environment. A former scratch golfer, his balance and clean striking underpin his success, while his versatility - opening in T20Is and finishing in ODIs - makes him Scotland's most dependable match-winner, with over 5000 white-ball runs.
