Profile & Biography

A fast bowler who thrives on attacking the stumps, Rosemary Mair developed her game at Central Districts and rose steadily through domestic cricket before earning her international debut in 2019.
Inspired as a youngster by New Zealand great Shane Bond, Mair fashioned a high-arm action built around pace and accuracy. Her bowling revolves around attacking the top of off stump, with a sharp inswinger and a nipbacker, the latter her trademark delivery. She also mixes in well-disguised slower balls, making her effective both with the new ball and in the later overs of a T20.
Mair's sporting life began with football and squash. Cricket came into the mix when she was seven, courtesy three older brothers. She started out at Taradale Cricket Club, playing in boys' teams until she was 13.
Although injuries have occasionally interrupted her progress, Mair has delivered key performances in major tournaments. At the 2024 women's T20 World Cup, she produced a career-best 4 for 19 against India and returned figures of 3 for 25 in the final as New Zealand lifted the title.
