Nurul Hasan

Nurul Hasan has spent much of his career waiting for an opening, but when opportunities have come, the wicketkeeper-batter has shown aggressive intent. A product of Bangladesh's age-group system, he first drew attention for his domestic consistency and a fighting 47 on Test debut in Christchurch in 2017. His batting has always had an unconventional edge: a high backlift and low grip allow him to play the ball late, while his compact power-hitting has made him particularly effective in the lower middle order.

That development was evident in his 64 against West Indies in the Antigua Test in 2018, Bangladesh's fastest overseas half-century at the time. After Bangladesh collapsed to 43 in the first innings, Nurul was the only batter to put up a fight in the second. He rode the bounce confidently, ramped short balls behind the wicket and cleared the ropes when he got the chance. After losing his place, Nurul worked specifically on his balance and shape for big hitting, eventually establishing himself as a limited-overs finisher. His 389 runs at a strike rate of 149.6 in the 2021 Dhaka Premier League, including 26 sixes, earned him a recall to all three Bangladesh squads.

Nurul has since produced several valuable white-ball contributions, including an unbeaten 45 in Zimbabwe in 2021 and four successive 50-plus scores during Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club's 2022 Dhaka Premier League title run. He also became Bangladesh's first-choice T20I wicketkeeper and briefly captained the side in 2022. Though international opportunities have remained sporadic, his domestic career has continued to flourish. He scored 513 runs across the Bangladesh Premier League, National Cricket League and the Global Super League in 2024-25, led Rangpur Riders to the inaugural Global Super League title, and famously hit three sixes and three fours in the final over of a BPL chase in January 2025.
