Profile & Biography

James Rew was an ever-present in England's run to the Under-19 World Cup final in early 2022, and made his England Lions debut in Sri Lanka the following year. He had to wait until the start of the 2025 season for a maiden Test call-up, when he was added to the squad to face Zimbabwe after an injury to Jordan Cox.
By that stage, Rew had become the youngest Englishman (at 21 and 114 days) to score 10 first-class hundreds since Denis Compton in 1939. His breakout season came in 2023, when he established himself behind the stumps for Somerset and tallied more than 1000 runs in the County Championship, scoring five centuries - including a career-best 221 against Hampshire at Taunton.
Highly rated by the ECB, Rew made his professional debut aged 17 for a County Select XI against the touring Indians in 2021 and scored his first hundreds the following summer. His maiden first-class ton came in Somerset's bore draw at Chelmsford, while his first in List A cricket could not prevent an agonising one-wicket defeat to Middlesex.
