England Lions 219 for 7 (Rehan 92, J Rew 57) beat West Indies A 123 (Gore 37, Harrison 3-26) by 96 runs
Rehan Ahmed hit eight sixes then took two wickets as England Lions romped to a 96-run win over West Indies A on Wednesday afternoon, sealing a clean-sweep in their three-match T20 series in St Kitts and Nevis.
Rehan was left out of England's white-ball squads to tour Pakistan and Australia after a quiet summer and challenged to prove the selectors wrong with the Lions. He cracked his highest T20 score in a third-wicket partnership with James Rew worth 112 runs off 60 balls after West Indies A chose to bowl first in the final T20.
Rew, whose younger brother Thomas is captaining the Lions in the T20 leg of the tour, made 57 off 37 balls, while Rehan hit 92 off 46 balls from No. 3. West Indies A folded for 123 in reply, with Adam Finch taking two early wickets before Lions legspinners Calvin Harrison and Rehan shared five wickets between them to run through the middle order.
England won Sunday's first T20 by eight wickets after bowling West Indies A out for just 98, with Naavya Sharma (4 for 19) and Scott Currie (3 for 11) both impressing before Thomas Rew hit 50 not out off 24 balls.
Currie starred in a low-scoring win two days later, taking 3 for 17 as the Lions restricted West Indies A to 134 for 7 chasing 152 to win. Rehan top-scored from No. 3 with 31 off 21 balls, while a 57-run stand between West Indies A captain, Alick Athanaze, and Shadrack Descarte kept the game alive.
The teams will now play five one-day matches, with Dan Lawrence taking over as the Lions' captain. James Coles and Mason Crane have arrived in the Caribbean after they were unused squad members for England's tri-series in Pakistan, while Coles, Eddie Jack and Thomas Rew will leave after the third one-day match to fly to Australia for England's five T20Is.
Keacy Carty, who has scored two ODI hundreds against England, will take over from Athanaze as West Indies A captain, while Jediah Blades, Kirk McKenzie and Shamar Springer are among the other internationally capped players added to the squad. Oshane Thomas, the fast bowler who last played for West Indies in February 2024, is another notable addition.
The tour is Jonathan Trott's first in charge of the Lions, after he took over from Andrew Flintoff on a six-month deal earlier this year.
