Danny Lamb

A combative allrounder, Danny Lamb came through at Lancashire before finding a home on England's south coast with Sussex. He demonstrated his solidity with the bat at No. 8 by making a hundred in his second match for his new county, away to Leicestershire, and although injury cut short his season, Sussex had the platform to go on to a long-awaited promotion back to Division One of the County Championship.

Lamb score his maiden first-class hundred at Canterbury in 2021, coming in with Lancashire 248 for 7 and adding a stand worth 187 with Luke Wood to set up an innings win. He made 11 County Championship appearances that summer, as Lancashire finished second (and lost the Bob Willis Trophy final) to Warwickshire, but subsequently found his chances limited, going out on loan to Somerset and Gloucestershire before being tempted further south by Paul Farbrace's rebuilding project at Hove.

Lamb's initial claim to fame came as the first concussion replacement in English first-class cricket, when he took over from team-mate Joe Mennie in the Championship match at Worcestershire in 2018. Mennie, an Australian seamer, suffered suspected concussion when he was hit on the head by a return drive from Worcestershire batter Martin Guptill.

Lamb, a former Cheshire cricketer, signed his maiden professional contract with Lancashire ahead of the 2017 season and made his first-team debut in the Royal London One-day Cup. He had opportunities in all formats in 2018. The Preston-born seam-bowling allrounder had impressed for the Lancashire seconds having come through the club's Academy. He is the brother of Lancashire and England Women's player Emma.
