Alana King

Having started her career with Victoria, it was a move to Western Australia that propelled Alana King towards international as she honed her skills as a legspinner able to extract sharp turn.

In the 2021-22 season she made her Australia debut across all three formats in the space of three weeks during that summer's Ashes series, almost helping secure a thrilling victory in the Test in Canberra. She went to be Australia's second-highest wicket-taker at the 2022 ODI World Cup in New Zealand.

From there she was in and out of XIs, sometimes surprisingly, playing just three of the seven matches in the 2023 Ashes and not selected during Australia's 2024 T20 World Cup campaign. It was a different story when they next met England, however, with a series-defining haul of 23 wickets at 11.17.

Arguably her most iconic moment to date came at the MCG in early 2025, during the day-night Test where King claimed nine wickets, when she produced a ripping leg-break to remove Sophia Dunkley that draw comparisons with Shane Warne in front of the stand bearing his name.
