Profile & Biography

Spencer Johnson's rise through the game has been remarkable. He only made his domestic T20 debut in early 2023, at the age of 27, and has now become a BBL force, has Australian caps under his belt and a million-dollar IPL deal.
After suffering a stress fracture to his foot on his one-day debut for South Australia in 2017 he spent three years trying to get back on the park. In the end, last-ditch surgery was needed. The comeback story has been stunning. He enjoyed a breakout 2022-23 BBL with Brisbane Heat where his skills at the death came to the fore.
Johnson has since become a target for overseas leagues with assignments in the Hundred, MLC and the Global T20 in Canada. In the Hundred he produced the stunning return of 3 for 1 against Manchester Originals and was handed Australia debuts in both T20Is and ODIs.
He had gone into the 2024 IPL auction with a base price of 50 lakhs (approximately AU$90,000) and walked away with a AUD1.78 million deal with Gujarat Titans.
