Match Report

11.10pm Right, then. Another run-fest, but with a slight twist today as India's bowlers do the job defending 224. India will now go to Hyderabad 2-1 up, as West Indies look to fight their way back in, knowing they weren't too far off the mark today. For today, that's all from us. On behalf of Sudarshanan and Raghav, it's Abhimanyu signing off. Adios amigos.

10.55pm Time for the presentation ceremony.

POTM, Arshdeep Singh: "[The dry ball] It was pretty nice, the ball was reversing a bit and it's always pretty fun to bowl at the death with some reverse swing. [How do you handle a wiketless day] There is no such thing as a leader or senior in the team. It's a chill environment and anytime someone has a bad day, we put an arm around our shoulders and tell them it's fine. As an international cricketer you know you will have good days and bad days and you'll come back to do well. I personally love it when batters go hard at you in all phases because that's when you can test your skills and mental strength. [Adjusting to conditions] The main focus is just to come early and bowl a little with new ball and old ball and adapt to the conditions."

Shreyas Iyer: "[On the ball staying dry] It was wonderful because the bowlers were pretty confident with what they wanted to execute. The clarity was much more visible. They were decisive in their execution and when I was passing the ball to them, each and every bowler was up for the challenge and that's what you want. [The start] Honestly, that was a phenomenal start. Abhishek doing what he does in the powerplay and Kishan coming in. He's been great in the last few months. Even Prince playing the cameo in the end, those were crucial runs. West Indies, you can never take them lightly. So we had to make sure we never get complacent. Both of them are high-scoring grounds but it's important we stick to our process and follow our routines and make sure we stay offensive."

Shai Hope: "So many things you can put your finger on. But cricket games have small margins. As a winning team, you can pick out defining moments. Probably with the ball, we could have executed better and we let a few boundaries through. I believe that the way we came back into the game was quite commendable. From the outset, if you look at that partnership, it was a very dangerous one, but we got some wickets with Roston, and we pulled it back. [Opening partnership] Yeah we have to find a good opening partnership to lay the platform but can't point your finger on one or two guys. [No dew] It did play a part. We felt that towards the end of our innings the ball was starting to tail a bit more. But credit to the Indian bowlers, they bowled really well and showed us how to execute yorkers. Credit to them."
10.45pm On a night where there was no dew, India's bowlers were excellent at defending a total that seemed below par at one point, with India's batters giving away soft dismissals. Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy were all excellent with their yorkers at the death, and it helped rein in West Indies' six-hitting prowess. This is the first win for the team batting first across the three ODIs and the three T20Is so far, and India will be very pleased especially with what they did with the ball. With the bat, of course it was Abhishek Sharma who was the star of the show with another electric half-century, but they will look to improve upon how they went in the second half of their innings.

Nitish Kumar Reddy: "A win is a win. We are all proud of our efforts over there. We know it's not easy but the bowlers executed the plans very well. At the time I think per over they needed 14 runs, and we thought if we could keep every run for a single, it would work for us. We weren't going for wickets. Sometimes a defensive plan can be an attacking plan. Very clear plans from our skipper. We have to stick to our plans and bowl to our fields. Even if we get hit for a six, we have to stick to our plans. [How much of a challenge is it putting up a good enough total batting first?] We started well but here and there we got a bit unlucky with a few wickets, but in the end you can see Prince getting those crucial runs mattered a lot."
Ganesh: "By now someone would have commented Prince Yadav's last over exploits were crucial or am I the first one ?"

Axar Patel to Springer

A bit short, a bit wide, and Springer makes room to flat-bat it over long-off! Springer ends up with a score of 35 off 11, but it's not quite enough as India take a 2-1 lead with a 14-run victory!

Arm ball, full on off, Springer clears his front leg and launches this over cow corner! Can he do this five more times?

Lovely slower short ball! Chase gets across a long way and this really slows down and completely bamboozles the batter as he looks to play a scoop

Another attempted yorker on the stumps, Springer makes room and hits it along the ground as long-on gets across

Prince Yadav to Springer

Now that's a massive hit! Lands in the third tier as Springer stands deep in his crease and makes the most of a missed yorker. It's just a touch short and Springer is able to get under it and launch it over long-on

Back of length outside off, Chase tries to take it on with the pull but can only hit it to long-on on the bounce

Prince goes for a yorker too, but it's a low full toss again. Still, too tough to hit, and Springer can only squeeze it down to long-off

Arshdeep to Rutherford

Arshdeep's yorkers are doing it for India! Inswinging yorker and it sneaks under the bat to hit the base of middle stump! That's probably the game gone for West Indies as the in-form Rutherford departs trying to swing for the hills. Excellent death bowling, this, from India's quicks

Oh, that's smart from Springer! Back of length delivery angled in from wide of off, Springer just backs away a touch and glides it in the gap between short third and backward point, using the pace of the ball

Oh, a difficult chance, but Prince can't hold on after manufacturing the chance! Low, low full toss outside leg, Rutherford looks to flick and gets a leading edge that balloons up over the umpire. Prince wants to take it himself, and races back, but can't hold on as he dives in front

Prince Yadav to Rutherford

Very well played by Rutherford, making a late adjustment. Slower bouncer on leg takes Rutherford a bit by surprise but he waits on it and pulls it over short fine leg. Deep backward square can't get across in time
