Profile & Biography

Tom Moores struggled to fill the considerable gap left by Chris Read in Nottinghamshire's County Championship side but started to thrive after opting to move to a white-ball deal ahead of the 2025 season. A wicketkeeper who bats in the middle order, Moores enjoyed his most prolific T20 Blast campaign to finish as Notts' leading run-scorer while striking at 157 and continued his form into the One Day Cup to earn a recall from Trent Rockets in the Hundred. A former England Under-19s player who showed sufficient promise to be called up by the Lions, it seemed as though Moores was finally fulfilling the promise he had shown as a young player.
Moores had long been a regular in Notts' T20 teams, playing a role in their 2017 and 2020 Blast triumphs, and initially showed some promise in red-ball cricket. His emergence as Read's successor was complicated by the fact that his father Peter, twice coach of England, was fulfilling that role at Trent Bridge, but he proved his mettle with a maiden Championship hundred in Taunton in 2018 and looked like a player with a big future ahead of him. But the runs dried up for him in red-ball cricket, and by the time he put his first-class career on pause, his batting average had sunk to 23.31. He focused his attention on the shorter formats instead, spending winters in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Middle East.
