Profile & Biography

One of the fastest bowlers in the women's game clocking speeds in excess of 120kph, Tayla Vlaeminck's career has been hit by multiple injuries. She fought back from two knee reconstructions and a shoulder dislocation to make her international debut in 2018 and was part of Australia's T20 World Cup-winning squad in 2018 but played just one match in the tournament.
She made her Test debut in the 2019 Ashes series and looked on track to be one of Australia's main weapons in their 2020 T20 World Cup title defence. But after bowling superbly in the lead-in tri-series against India and England she was diagnosed with a stress fracture in her right foot and missed 12 months of cricket.
She returned to international cricket on Australia's tour of New Zealand in 2021 and also played later that year against India. However, injuries continued to stalk her. During the 2022 Ashes she suffered another stress fracture in her right which ruled her out of 2022 ODI World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the 2022-23 WBBL and the 2023 T20 World Cup in South Africa.
Having worked with Australian Ballet in a bit to overcome her foot issues, just when Vlaeminck was returning to the field, for Australia A in England, she dislocated her shoulder - the recurrence of an old injury - which kept her out of second consecutive WBBL. She was finally able to return to international cricket on the tour of Bangladesh in early 2024.
