Tanzid Hasan

Tanzid Hasan is on the path to become Bangladesh's first-choice opener in white-ball cricket in the post-Tamim Iqbal era. An aggressive left-hand opener like Tamim (which is also his nickname), Tanzid also made a single half-century in the 2023 ODI World Cup, his first foray into top-level cricket.

It cost him some time off from the Bangladesh team. He worked on his batting with Shahriar Nafees, the former Bangladesh captain, and then had a strong 2023-24 BPL season, which helped him get back on track. Tanzid needed till 2025 to crack international cricket properly. His 775 runs in T20Is in the calendar year is the highest in a year by a Bangladesh batter. His strike rate of 135.25 also played a big role in the team's desire to adopt a more aggressive outlook. He looked for sixes at every opportunity, a refreshing change among Bangladesh's batters.

The team missed out on the 2026 T20 World Cup due to political reasons, but Tanzid scored his maiden international hundred shortly after, in a 2-1 ODI series win against Pakistan.

Born in Bogra, a small town northwest of Dhaka, Tanzid had to convince his father to allow him to play cricket, after which he spent some time at the Bangla Trac Cricket Academy in Rajshahi. He was part of Bangladesh's Under-19 World Cup-winning side in 2020, scoring 80 against South Africa in the quarter-final.
