Rovman Powell

A middle-order batter who bowls occasional medium pace, Rovman Powell has been a semi-regular presence in West Indies' white-ball squads from the mid-2010s without quite nailing down a spot.

Powell's maiden ODI hundred, against Ireland in 2018, helped West Indies to a crucial win in the World Cup qualifier, and he captained a weakened side in Bangladesh later that year, but was left out of the squad for the World Cup itself, in 2019.

He has been a consistent performer for Jamaica in white-ball cricket, with runs from the middle order, and captained the Tallawahs franchise in the 2020 CPL. He was Player of the Match in the final of the inaugural Abu Dhabi T10 League in 2018, hitting 61 not out off 25 balls for the victorious Northern Warriors.

In 2022, at the start of a year in which he got an extended run in the West Indies T20I side, he made 107 off 53 balls against England at home and a few games later, 68 and 61 against India and Bangladesh away, both unbeaten. He also played every game in his first IPL season for Delhi Capitals, teeing off sharply from the lower middle-order to produce an impressive run of scores.

- Powell was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 30 lakh way back in 2017, but it wasn't until the 2022 season that he made his debut in the IPL

- That debut came in Delhi Capitals colours after being bought for INR 2.75 crore ahead of IPL 2022. He enjoyed a run of 14 games that season, scoring 250 runs at 149.70. He was retained by DC for IPL 2023, but Powell scored just seven runs in three innings and was released at the end of the season.

- Powell enjoyed a big pay day in the IPL 2024 auctions, when Rajasthan Royals swooped him to buy him for INR 7.4 crore. He played 10 games in the middle-order but could not have much impact; he scored 103 runs in 7 innings.

- Released again, he was bought as Andre Russell's back-up at KKR for IPL 2025 for INR 1.5 crore, but a mix of injuries and no space in the XI meant he played just two games and batted once. Powell was retained by KKR again for IPL 2026.
