Profile & Biography
A left-arm fast bowler from the Windward Islands, Obed McCoy's skilful changes in pace made him a natural fit for the T20 format.
He made his domestic debuts in all three formats in 2017, and less than a year later he was playing for West Indies in an ODI against India. While his 50-over career did not take off, McCoy became a fairly regular player for West Indies in T20Is, representing them in the 2021, 2022 and 2024 T20 World Cups.
The highlight of his international career came when he took 6 for 17 in a T20I against India in Basseterre in August 2022. At the time it was the best figures by a West Indian in the format.
When not playing for West Indies, McCoy represented teams in T20 franchise leagues in the Caribbean, South Africa, India, Bangladesh, USA and Pakistan. He was part of the Rajasthan Royals squad that qualified for the IPL final in 2022, and went on to represent the franchise's other teams in the SA20 and CPL - Paarl Royals and Barbados Royals.
