Maheesh Theekshana IPL factfile
- Mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana was picked by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for INR 70 lakhs in the IPL mega auction in 2022. That came on the back of his 16 wickets for champions Jaffna Kings at the Lanka Premier League in 2021.
- In his debut IPL season, Theekshana got 12 wickets for CSK at an impressive average and economy rate, even as CSK finished ninth. He played 13 matches for them in 2023, but lacked the effectiveness of his first year, although this time CSK went on to lift the trophy.
- Theekshana played just two games for CSK in 2024, as they missed out on a playoffs berth on inferior net run rate. CSK released him ahead of the mega auction for 2025, when Rajasthan Royals (RR) bagged him for INR 4.4 crore. RR will be Theekshana's second Royals franchise after he represented Barbados Royals (BR) at the CPL in 2024, when his 17 wickets helped BR reach Qualifier 2.
