Profile & Biography

Jordan Silk was the youngest player to make a hundred on debut in Sydney grade cricket. Fittingly, he also made a hundred early in his first-class career, late in the 2012-13 Sheffield Shield season, a tough one for run-making, batting alongside Ricky Ponting in his second match. That helped their side, Tasmania, through to the tournament final, which they won, with Silk making another century.
His returns were thin on Australia A's tour of England later that year, but he was back among the runs come the 2014-15 Shield season, where he breached 500 runs for the first time, and was awarded the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year medal.
In 2017-18 and 2023-24, Silk did especially well in the Shield, scoring 566 and 630 runs, and Tasmania made the tournament final both times - though they won on neither occasion. He also made over 500 runs a season on four other occasions.
An electric fielder to go with his brisk run-scoring and finishing, Silk is among the T20 players whose catching substantially boosts their market value. Be that as it may, he has been a Sydney Sixers loyalist all his life, playing for them since his first season, 2013-14. In 2019-20, when Sixers won their first BBL title, Silk made vital unbeaten 20s from low down the order in the qualifier and final. When they defended their title the following year, Silk's value was undeniable: he made 382 runs, striking at 145, and took 16 catches, the most in the tournament. He repeated the latter feat in 2022-23, taking 18 catches this time.
