Profile & Biography

Isabella Gaze is regarded as one of the brightest prospects among New Zealand's new generation of cricketers. Born in Haarlem in the Netherlands, she moved to New Zealand at a young age and developed through Auckland's domestic pathway. Her rise through the ranks was swift, driven by impressive glovework and an attacking approach with the bat.
Like many other New Zealand players, she played hockey until her mid-teens but all that changed when she was awarded a junior contract as a cricketer at Auckland after just one season.
Gaze came into wider attention while playing at the inaugural women's Under-19 T20 World Cup, where she gained valuable experience at a higher level. Even before fully establishing herself in domestic cricket, she was brought into the senior environment.
She made her international debut in 2022 during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, becoming one of the youngest players to represent New Zealand in T20Is at just 18. Later that year, she also earned her first ODI cap against West Indies. Gaze was part of the T20 World Cup-winning side in 2024 and also played the ODI World Cup in 2025.
