Ikram Alikhil

Ikram Alikhil first made an impression in the final of the 2017 Under-19 Asia Cup, hitting an unbeaten 107 to set up a big win against Pakistan to give Afghanistan their first U-19 Asia Cup title.

A few months later, he was playing first-class and List-A cricket for Speen Ghar, and a year on, he had made his Test and ODI debuts against Ireland in India as Afghanistan's wicketkeeper-batter. Though he made single-digit scores in his first six ODI innings, he redeemed himself with a fighting 86 against West Indies in Leeds in that year's ODI World Cup in England, and followed up with a fifty against the same opponent in his next ODI, late in 2019.

He then lost form, falling out of favour as Afghanistan turned to Rahmanullah Gurbaz as their preferred keeper, but made a return in 2023 as a pure batter in Tests and ODIs. In that year's ODI World Cup, his 58 from No. 6 balls gave Afghanistan a famous win over England in Delhi, but he ran into another lean patch after that, He was in the squad as a back-up for Gurbaz in the 2025 Champions Trophy but did not get a game.
