Chad Bowes

An attacking, but organised top-order batter, Chad Bowes captained South Africa in the 2012 World Cup, before he found a new home in Canterbury and New Zealand.

Three years after that Under-19 tournament in Australia, Bowes left South Africa and arrived in Christchurch on his own. Then with some help from Stephen Fleming, he joined the Sydenham cricket club in Christchurch and began building his new career and life in New Zealand.

After establishing himself as a consistent batter for Canterbury across formats, Bowes earned his maiden call-up to the New Zealand squad for the home ODI series against Sri Lanka in 2023. Then in his fourth ODI, against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, he scored a run-a-ball 51 against an attack that contained Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf. His terrific form in 2023 also attracted the attention of Galle Titans, who forked out USD 58,000 to acquire his services for the Lanka Premier League, making him the most expensive pick that year.
