Profile & Biography
Uttar Pradesh produced an assembly line of medium-pacers from 2006 to 2016, and Amit Mishra - not to be confused with his legspin-bowling namesake from Haryana - is part of the younger group that has emerged in the wake of Praveen Kumar, RP Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The Kanpur-born Mishra made his debut in the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy season, and picked up figures of 7 for 59 in only his second match, against Rajasthan. He ended his debut season with 27 wickets at an average of 19.77, and established himself as a regular member of the UP attack in the two following seasons.
Rajasthan Royals signed Mishra for his base price of INR 10 lakh at the 2014 IPL player auction, but did not get a game. Mishra found a new home at the Gujarat Lions, when the franchise bought him for his base price of INR 10 lakh in the 2016 auction.
