The pair put on 212 for the second wicket, both registering their second hundreds at this level, following centuries against England earlier this year. They had come together after Shan Masood, vice-captain, was dismissed without scoring and stuck together for five minutes short of five hours, ending the day unbeaten.

Their performance took the sheen off a fine counterattack by the tourists earlier in the day, led by Rony Talukder. They had begun the day on 273 for seven, with Talukder unbeaten on 52. He took over the tail this morning, more than doubling his personal score and scoring the vast majority of his side's runs. His innings, off only 141 balls, was his first hundred at this level.
Mohammad Rameez finished off the fine work he began yesterday, finishing the innings with four wickets, while Junaid Nadir and legspinner Ahmed Shahzad chipped in with two wickets each.
