Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of India's five-match ODI series in New Zealand and will instead join the India A squad for the third (and final) four-day game against New Zealand A. Mohammed Siraj, meanwhile, will be available for the second four-dayer for India A.
Prasidh, who is recovering from a left hamstring injury, "will need additional time to build up the workload required to be ready for matches," the BCCI said in a statement. "[Skipping the ODIs] will give him an opportunity to gain match practice and prepare for the Test series." The two-Test series will begin on November 19 after the ODIs run from November 4 to November 15.
No replacement for Prasidh, who went out after bowling five overs in the second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati on September 30, has been named. The squad is already without Jasprit Bumrah, who will only be playing the Test series. He is, however, expected to play the last four-day match between New Zealand A and India A too.
Nitish Kumar Reddy, meanwhile, will stay with the ODI squad for the first game, on November 4, and then link up with the A squad for the final four-day game, from November 7, "which will help him gain match practice" for the Test series," the BCCI said. He had originally been named for the entire ODI series but, with the Test series crucial for India from the point of view of the WTC, game time with the red ball is likely to help him more.
