Ashutosh Sharma, now Delhi Capitals' finisher in the IPL, has moved from Railways to Gujarat ahead of the 2026-27 domestic season. It's likely Ashutosh will only be part of the side's white-ball plans.
He is one of three professionals, alongside the Rajasthan pair of fast bowler Ashok Sharma (currently injured) and legspinner Ravi Bishnoi to be part of Gujarat.
Ashutosh, who hails from Madhya Pradesh and started his List A and T20 career with the state team, has in the past spoken of the need to move because of lack of opportunities in his home state.
Ashutosh's move coincides with Monty Desai taking over as Gujarat's head coach.
Desai, formerly with Nepal and more recently with Canada, has replaced Ramesh Powar in the role. Powar, the former India offspinner, is understood to have applied for a role in the men's junior selection panel, and was recently spin consultant with the Australia Under-19 team currently on tour in India.
Ashutosh is coming off a run with Hampshire in the One-Day Cup in England, but only managed a highest of 16 across his last seven innings. The deal was facilitated by the GMR Group, part owners of Delhi Capitals and owners of the Hampshire county cricket team.
