Stumps Bangladesh 272 and 79 for 6 (Jaker 18*, Nayeem 18*, Chase 3-25, Warrican 2-19) lead West Indies 272 (Chanderpaul 56, Campbell 54, Greaves 46, Nayeem 4-33) by 106 runs
Roston Chase and Jomel Warrican sunk Bangladesh to 79 for 6 when play was called off an hour before the scheduled 4.30pm close on the third day in Dhaka. Chase took three wickets off his first ten balls, before Warrican struck twice, as the hosts reeled in their own conditions.
Bangladesh's overall lead grew to 106 runs, though, after they went 27 ahead in the first innings. Nayeem Hasan and Jaker Ali, brought in as Mominul Haque's concussion sub after the latter hurt his head while trying to take a catch in West Indies' first innings, were the unbeaten batters for Bangladesh in the second innings.
Tanzid Hasan was the first to go when he edged Shamar Joseph to Chase at second slip. Tanzid rounded off a poor outing in the Dhaka Test, having made 7 and a duck in the match. The batting collapse started in the 11th over, when Chase bowled Shadman Islam for 13. The opener, who had scored 105 in the first innings, missed a straight ball from the West Indies captain.
Two balls later, Towhid Hridoy skied Chase to mid-on, where Jayden Seales took a simple catch. Hridoy had played a similar shot in the first innings, when he made 42, but in the tight situation in the second innings, his wayward shot was unwanted.
Chase then trapped Najmul Hossain Shanto lbw for 10. The ball went straight, hitting Shanto's front pad as he missed an attempted forward press. Chase took three wickets within ten balls, conceding just three runs during that point.
Bangladesh went to tea on 34 for 4, with substitute Jaker sent in at No. 6. Bangladesh's situation, though, kept getting worse. Warrican got among the wickets when he trapped Litton Das lbw for 4. Again, it was a beautifully drifting delivery that clipped the top of the back pad. Warrican then got Mehidy Hasan Miraz for the second time in the game, when his quicker arm-ball beat Mehidy in the 22nd over. Bangladesh thus slipped to 53 for 6, before Jaker and Nayeem added an unbroken 26 until stumps.
Earlier in the day, Nayeem took four wickets to help bowl out West Indies for 245 in their first innings. With that, Bangladesh grabbed a slim 27-run first-innings lead. Tagenarine Chanderpaul reached his fifty having struck Taijul Islam for a six as the first boundary of the day. Chanderpaul's vigil ended when Shoriful Islam had him caught at second slip for 56 off 184 balls. Chase and Justin Greaves added a crucial 51 for the sixth wicket, before Nayeem broke the stand with the latter's wicket, lbw for 46.
Mehidy removed Joshua Bishop in an eventful over after lunch that went for ten runs. Bishop was stumped for 15 to a delivery that kept low. Nayeem then removed Shamar Joseph, who was caught behind, and had Warrican lbw in the same over. Nayeem completed the innings with Jayden Seales skying one to mid-off, also for a duck.
