Match Report

Shashank's report from the day will be up soon. With that, we wrap up our coverage of this game from Puducherry. The second unofficial Test begins on September 29 at the same venue. Until then, it's goodbye from our side. Take care!
Devdutt Padikkal, the winning captain: "So far, so good [as captain]. When you're winning games, it's always a nice feeling. The toss always matters a lot - especially on wickets like these. We were lucky to win the toss. Kushagra batted really well. It was a really important phase of the game... if we had collapsed, it would have been much different. The bowlers were really clear with their plans. They executed plans really well."
Kumar Kushagra is the Player of the Match: "It was a good innings of mine. When I went there, it was a tricky wicket. So I thought of taking my innings deep. Nothing technically [on what he has done to improve in red-ball cricket]... I just started at No. 3 when I'm playing back home in the Ranji Trophy. When I went there in the second innings, the ball was keeping low as well. So I thought when the offspinners bowl, I will take them down... it went really nice."
Peter Handscomb, Australia A captain: "I think that was a big toss. We saw the wicket deteriorate throughout the game. We were happy with that position [India A being 97 for 5]... but credit must go to the Indian team as well. They played really well. Maybe a slight change [with the ball in the second innings]. India were looking to push the game forward as well. Plenty of positives to come out of the game. I can't credit the bowlers enough; they just kept coming and coming. Happy with that bit of reflex catch [at gully], but would have preferred a win."

12.34pm An all-round performance from India A to go 1-0 up in the two-match series. They were 97 for 5 on day one after opting to bat first, but Kumar Kushagra and Tanush Kotian turned it around to the extent that their side won convincingly with more than a session of play to go on the final day. Kushagra followed his 113 in the first innings with 46* in the second, and helped set Australia A 363 to win. Despite the loss, the visitors will be buoyed by Murphy and Rocchicioli's performance with the ball. Their batters looked helpless on an up-and-down fourth-day pitch where the ball turned and misbehaved consistently. But India A's bowlers were still accurate, and sealed the win.

Mulani to Doggett

superb effort from Rasheed at long-off!! He dives forward and goes low to take the catch. But hang on, it will be confirmed by the third umpire before we can wrap this game up. Oh, the first slow-motion replay is enough to convince the third umpire. Doggett is gone, and India A win by 162 runs. Doggett advanced down the pitch and launched Mulani off a length, but despite hitting it powerfully, he couldn't clear the Rasheed

Mulani to Murphy

Well taken at leg slip!! Sai Sudharsan, who took that catch, and Mulani, the bowler, hardly even react. Sai tumbled to his right and took the ball low, with little time to react. Murphy had clipped this shortish ball on off, which turned into him. There was a puff of dust which came off the pitch as the ball landed there
